Heerebosch phase 3
In the plans for Handel, 'Heerebosch' has been designated as an area for new housing. After the earlier project 'Heerebosch phase II' we want to complete this area in a good way towards the landscape. Therefore, in 2023 pieces of land were purchased to build new housing under the name 'Heerebosch phase III'. Since the summer of 2023, the 'Heerebosch phase III' project has been prioritized. This means that we will start working on this project. On this webpage we will keep you informed about the progress of 'Heerebosch phase III'.
Plan area
The plan area is located in the northeast of Handel on the Heereveldseweg and has an area of approximately 2.5 hectares.
State of affairs
In the period from mid 2023 to the end of 2024 the necessary preparations were made for this project. Among other things, we held discussions with the province of North Brabant and region De Peel.
In the summer of 2024 we started making plans for the housing project. In the second quarter of 2025 the sketch plan will be completed. On Monday, June 2, a walk-in meeting was held where local residents and other interested parties were able to view the preliminary sketch plan. Those present could also react to the sketch plan. The comments received will be reviewed and assessed. In the summer of 2025 the preliminary sketch plan will be further developed into a definitive urban development plan.
Update October 2025
The plan is now further developed. At the moment the last details are being finalized before the plan, expected in November, is presented to the municipal executive for adoption. During the past period, various studies were conducted that could have influenced the urban development plan. As a result, the process has taken a little longer than expected. It is important to note that the urban development structure as presented in June has not changed.
Update November 2025
On November 18, 2025, the Municipal Executive adopted the urban development plan. The urban plan forms the basis for the Environmental Plan. Since the necessary investigations have largely already been carried out, we can immediately proceed with the finalization of the Environment Plan after adoption of the urban development plan. We aim to submit the Environment Plan for public inspection in the first quarter of 2026.
Update April 2026
Contrary to previous reports, the draft environmental plan is expected to be available for public inspection before summer. Some studies are taking longer than previously anticipated. We are working to complete the plan fully and carefully as soon as possible.
As soon as the plan is made available for inspection, we will communicate about it via this project page and the Gemerts Nieuwsblad.
Heereveldseweg redesign
The new homes will be located on the Heereveldseweg. A narrow country road that connects the village with the countryside. Because of the new houses in 'Heerebosch phases II and III' there will be more traffic on this road. Part of this road will therefore have to be adapted so that traffic can continue to drive safely along the road. The design process for the redesign of part of the Heereveldseweg will follow at a later date.

For now, no new meetings are planned.
