New speeds Gemert
We are lowering the speed limit in Gemert.
Why are we doing this?
Since April 2026 we have been lowering the speed limit on many roads in Gemert. We do this to improve road safety and livability. Cyclists and children can move more safely through Gemert as a result.
What will change?
- On the roads where you were previously allowed to drive 50 kilometers per hour, you now drive a maximum of 30 kilometers per hour.
- On the roads where you were previously allowed to drive 80 kilometers per hour, you will now drive a maximum of 60 kilometers per hour.
In the coming months we will replace the signs along the road. These will indicate the new speed limit when you just can't remember.
Exceptions
What will not change? The current speed limit will remain in force on a number of roads. Within the built-up area, Oudestraat (the part south of Zuid-Om), Boekent, Zandstraat, Handelseweg (part Gemert) and Boekelseweg (part Gemert) will remain 50 km/h.
Also outside the built-up area, the Zuid-Om (N272), Oost-Om (N272), Noord-Om (N272), Beeksedijk (N272) and Boekelseweg (N605) will remain 80 km/h.
The signs along the road indicate the speed limit when you're at a loss for words.
How do we work?
We are working step by step. This means that we are replacing traffic signs per neighborhood or area in Gemert. We make the transition carefully and efficiently. That's why we combine work as much as possible. Other traffic measures that reduce speed will only be implemented when other work is also being done in the neighborhood or street.
