Redevelopment village square De Rips
A green and accessible square for the entire community of De Rips
The village square in front of the De Klimboom Child Care Center in De Rips has been transformed into a green and accessible gathering place for the entire village.
The square on Meester Hertsigstraat has been renovated. A number of changes have been made:
- The fences around the schoolyard have been removed. As a result, the square is now accessible to village residents even outside of school hours. It is now an open space that is part of the village.
- More green spaces have been added, making it a pleasant place to be. The greenery also helps make the square more resilient to heat and heavy rain.
- An outdoor classroom has been created. Here, students can have lessons outside. There is also a “SamenSpeelplek” (Play Together Area). This is a place where children can play together. Everyone is welcome to join in.
The new square is a place to play, learn, exercise, and socialize. People of all ages can come together here.
The opening of the new square was celebrated with great fanfare. Children kicked off the day with an energetic charity run. During the opening, it was clear just how deeply the village is involved in the project.
The initial idea
The idea to redesign the village square came from the De Rips Village Council and GOO. The municipality later joined the initiative.
Who was involved?
- De Rips Village Council
- The De Rips Business Association
- De Klimboom Child Care Center
- GOO Child Care and Education
- Residents living near the village square
- Students and their parents
Everyone’s contribution
The De Rips Village Council, GOO, and the municipality all contributed financially to the redevelopment of the square. Additional funding was needed to carry out all the plans. Therefore, a grant was requested from LEADER. The project was thus co-financed by the European Union and the province of North Brabant.
