Registered partnership, convert to marriage
A deed of conversion can be used to convert your registered partnership into a marriage. This ends the registered partnership and the marriage begins from the time the deed of conversion is made in the register of marriages. For children born before the conversion, nothing changes in the family relationships.
Entry in register
The deed of conversion is drawn up by a registrar and then entered in the register of marriages. The conversion can take place in any municipality in the Netherlands.
Do you live abroad?
If you live abroad and at least one of you has the Dutch nationality and you want a conversion in the Netherlands, you must do this in the municipality of The Hague. You can make an appointment with the civil registrar of the municipality of The Hague(external link), department Landelijke Taken.
Cost
The cost of the conversion depends on the documents to be submitted and any ceremony. You can find these in the current fee regulations.
