Your home as a second home
Become a foster parent and give a child a future
It’s Foster Care Week. The focus isn’t just on the importance of foster care, but especially on recruiting new foster parents. Have you ever thought about it?
Taking care of your brother’s, sister’s, or other family members’ or acquaintances’ child when needed—did you know that this is also considered foster care? For some children who are (temporarily) unable to live at home, finding a place to stay within their family or circle of friends isn’t possible. For those children, new foster parents are desperately needed. Currently, 14,713 foster parents in the Netherlands are caring for 19,918 foster children aged 0 to 21. In the Southeast Brabant region, there are currently more than 450 foster families affiliated with Combinatie Jeugdzorg. Have you ever considered whether foster care might be right for you?
Good match
There is still an urgent shortage of foster parents. More than 900 foster children in the Netherlands were waiting for a safe and stable home with a foster family. Due to the shortage of available foster families, foster care organizations have to spend more time searching for a good match. For several years now, there has been a decline in the number of new foster parents, while the demand for foster care remains higher and requires more personalized care.
Would you like to welcome a child into your home? You can be there for him or her, ensuring that the child—whether temporarily or for a longer period—receives enough attention, feels loved, and is seen. It’s an extra home where a child can stay for a short or longer period of time.
Information Evening
Would you like to know if foster care is right for you? Watch videos about foster care, request an information packet, or attend one of the monthly foster care information evenings with no obligation. The next one is on Thursday, November 5, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Heerenhuys 23, Heuvel 23 in Geldrop.
