What is it about?
More and more agricultural buildings are becoming vacant in the countryside. Empty stables and barns can cause vacancy and deterioration of the landscape. With the VAB policy we want to give these places a new future.
What could be possible?
New functions are sometimes possible if they fit well with the location and the environment.
For example:
- Small-scale living
- Recreation or residential recreation
- Care or assisted living
- Light activity that fits in with the countryside
What do we look for?
- Fitting into the landscape and the immediate surroundings
- The effects on traffic, environment and quality of life
- The scale of the plan in relation to the outlying area
- The future-proofing of the new function
What other arrangements can fit in?
For a VAB location, it is sometimes possible to make use of the customization scheme or the transition fund. Which scheme fits depends on your plan and the quality of the location.
Participate in Sweeping Plan standard VAB solutions
It is possible to convert vacant agricultural buildings into a civilian residence, agricultural related business or small-scale non-agricultural business. This is done with a sweeping plan. This sweeping plan makes the necessary change to the municipal environmental plan with a shorter lead time and at a reduced rate.
