The Municipality of Gemert-Bakel recently gave away free trees and shrubs to make the rural areas of our municipality even greener and more beautiful. But above all, to make the environment more resilient to climate change.
Gemert-Bakel is competing in the National Tile-Flipping Championship. Together with residents, we’re removing as many tiles as possible from our gardens and planting greenery. We’re competing against the municipalities of Deuren, Laarbeek, Someren, and Asten. Will you help us win this challenge? The municipality is moving forward with solar farms. The municipal council has established guidelines regarding the requirements a solar farm plan must meet and how these will be assessed.

Thirty regions in the Netherlands are working a lot together on a concrete approach to generate sustainable energy in 2030: the Regional Energy Strategy (RES). The regional approach appears to be working and bringing movement to the energy transition. In their RES 1.0, the regions set an even higher ambition than they did last time: about 55 TWh in 2023.
The use of natural gas is bad for the environment. Therefore, by 2050 all homes in the Netherlands must be off gas. In order to be ready in time, the municipality of Gemert-Bakel has already started preparations. We have written down the plans in the Transition Vision Heat (TVW).

Some homes are directly adjacent to the (concrete) sidewalk, which means there’s little greenery on the street. A small front-facade garden is a narrow strip of greenery along the front or side facade of a home.
